Meet John Murphy, 2017 Thomas C. Wilson Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree

Now in his 34th year of being on the advertising side of media, John’s experience in sales and management includes radio, television, print and digital media – at companies ranging from owner-operated local media (Americom, News & Review) to some of the largest in their industries (Gannett and Cumulus).
In his current role as Sales Manager for Cumulus Media, John manages local revenues for four of the Reno market’s most recognized and successful radio stations: KKOH-AM, K-Bull 98.1 FM, Wild 102.9, and 95.5 The Vibe, along with digital resources.
John’s work and professional contributions have been recognized with over 100 local, regional and national awards, including AAF Reno’s Ad Person of the Year for 2015-2016.
John has served as a board and committee member for many non-profit and charitable organizations, including the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Volunteers of America, City of Reno Arts & Culture Marketing Committee, and the AAF Reno Foundation. He joined AAF Reno – then known as the Reno Ad Club – in 1986, serving for many years on the board and for two terms as president. He’s currently AAF Reno’s Membership Chair and also serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Northern Nevada.
